A story of music, friendship and independent ambition, beginning in New York in 1985.
Founded by Ruel “Bully” Fair, Mark A. Fairclough and Shana G. Pyatt, the company began as EM-N-S Production & DJ Bully. Courtney H. Grossitt joined the partnership in 1986. It became EmCee-Bee Records in 1987, bringing together mixtapes, DJs, local artists and live events.
Following Ruel’s passing in 1996, the name Young Brother Incorporated—Y.B.I.—honored his memory and the brotherhood behind the company. Under Mark A. Fairclough’s leadership, the business expanded into recording, video, digital media and promotions.
In 2001, it became Y.B.I. Entertainment Music Group. That independent spirit continues today.
